  1. In my situation, I have a List view which works fine. However, I want to use a dropdown list in the edit template for the list view. The dropdown list has values populated from a separate database.

    Here is what I have so far:

    <asp:TextBox ID="ReasonForLeavingIDTextBox" runat="server"
    Text='’ Visible=”True” />

    SelectCommand=”SELECT ReasonForLeavingID,Description FROM ProSolution.dbo.ReasonForLeaving”>

    At the moment, when I click “Edit” in my list view in the browser, it displays a textbox and the drop down list.

    Changing the id in the textbox works but I want to change the value in the dropdownlist instead of manyally having to enter an ID in the text box (I know i can use jquery to load the id from dropdownlist into textbox but I am sure there must be a better way of doing it.
