Write Excel file to text file with any delimiter

When we save a csv file in Excel then we can only use comma as the delimiter. This is somehow frustrated.

I have created a small code to output the Excel file to any delimiter.

staticvoid ReadExcel(String strFileName,int RowCount, int ColCount, string strDelimiter)

  //Write to text

  StreamWriter sw = newStreamWriter(@”c:\Test.txt”);

  String strCell = “”;

  int col;

  Object Opt = Missing.Value;

  Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application app = newApplication(); //= new Excel.Application();

  //Declare Workbook

  Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook book;

  //Excel.Worksheet sheet;

  Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Worksheet xlsSheet;

  Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Range oRng;

  //Open Spreadsheet

  book = app.Workbooks.Open(strFileName, Opt, Opt, Opt, Opt, Opt, Opt, Opt, Opt, Opt, Opt, Opt, Opt, Opt, Opt);

  //Take the first sheet

  xlsSheet = (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Worksheet)book.Sheets[1];

  //Read the first cell

  oRng = (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Range)xlsSheet.Cells[1, 1];

  for (int row = 0; row < RowCount; row++)

    strCell = “”;

    for (col = 0; col < ColCount; col++)

      oRng = (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Range)xlsSheet.Cells[row+1, col+1];

      if (col < ColCount-1)

        strCell = strCell + oRng.Text.ToString() + strDelimiter;

        strCell = strCell + oRng.Text.ToString();

    //Write to text file

  book.Close(false, false, Missing.Value);

The limitation for this is it always start will A1. Feel free to change it.

Download the complete code from http://skydrive.live.com. The sample file name is ConAppExcelDelimiter.rar. My MSN ID is chanmmn@hotmail.com.
