Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {00024500-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80070005 Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

This message will appear if you do Excel interope in Web App. To solve this you can follow the steps.

1. In DCOMCNFG, right click on the My Computer and select properties.
2. Choose the COM Securities tab
3. In Access Permissions, click “Edit Defaults” and add Network Service to it and give it “Allow local access” permission. Do the same for <Machine_name>\Users.
4. In launch and Activation Permissions, click “Edit Defaults” and add Network Service to it and give it “Local launch” and “Local Activation” permission. Do the same for <Machine_name>\Users

Once you solve this then you will get others COM errors for sure. You rather save the Excel Through rdlc reporting.

HI, I tired the above solution but it doesn’t work on my windows 2008 x64 server. I have MS office 2007 install but can’t see Excel application in DCOM config.

Also, I checked mmc -32 and was able to find the Excel application in that version of DCOM config.

Note: I can’t install MS office 2007 enterprise edition due to some limitations.
