Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style

This short blogs should you how to resolve this issue when you are installing Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10.

When you are installing Windows you may hit the error “Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style”.

A lot of articles ask you to type diskpart but where do you going to get the command prompt?

You get the command prompt by pressing Shift + F10 after you booked your PC or laptop using CD/DVD or USB drive.

Once you type diskpart then there is another prompt appear

Type list


Type select disk 0

DISKPART> select disk 0

Type clean


You can try to install your Windows again. The error should be gone by now.
