This short article shows you how to disable the CDPUserSvc_xxxxxx that is giving problem in the Windows 10 1607. You won’t be able to disable it using Services.msc.
Once you upgraded to Windows 10 Build 1607 most likely you will see the below Services with the description with error “Failed to Read Description. Error Code: 15100“.
The last 6 characters in this service is different from PC to PC for example, CDPUserSvc_4b2e3f4 .
If you are trying to disable this service then you will get the The parameter is incorrect error.
In order to disable it you need to use Regedit. Go to the following Key and set the Start value to 4 instead of 2.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDPUserSvc

This works but value resets to 2 when computer is powered off then on. Any permanent fixes out there?
I checked again mine, it stays disable. Are you logging in to the Company Domain? Do there have a group policy set. It they do then you might consider to disable your group policy as well https://chanmingman.wordpress.com/2015/07/22/disable-group-policy/.
Thanks for the step-by-step on how to disable this service … but, what IS this service? what is it supposed to actually do? I like to know what things do (even if they have some vague error code associated with them) before I start shutting them down. Thanks again!
This service is used for Connected Devices and Universal Glass scenarios. I don’t have one that’s why so far I have no problem after disabling it.
