Error 2711. An internal error has occurred. (ExcelAddInPowerMapFiles)

This short article shows you one possible way to resolve the error “Error 2711. An internal error has occurred. (ExcelAddInPowerMapFiles)” when you are installing Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013.

When I was installing Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013, the installation gave me the error screen below with the error message “Error 2711. An internal error has occurred. (ExcelAddInPowerMapFiles)”.

I proceed to Uninstall or change a program in Control Panel. I realized there are 2 program related to Office 2013.

1. Lync add-in.

2. SharePoint Designer 2013.

I uninstalled the SharePoint Designer 2013 then uninstalled Lync add-in.

I then re-installed again Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013. I did not get the error anymore. So the error is not really what it means because there is nothing to do with Excel.
